After a wonderful week of Kaleidoscope (Vacation Bible School) at Holy Cross, Fiona and Michael were baptised on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Jeb and Carol are the godparents. Attending the rite were Jami and Grant, Jeb, Kathy, Kelly and Claire, Carol and Andrew, Gramalie, and Louanne and Bob Bachner-Reimer. Fr. Patrick Kingery presided.
Carol and I printed programs with 2 songs and 2 readings from scripture on it. The opening song was "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" and the closing song was "This Little Light of Mine". Andrew and Kelly read the 2 readings and Claire helped Fiona and Michael light their candles from the Paschal Candle. Carol bought and decorated beautiful candles for Fiona and Michael, and a kit to make a stepping stone. The stone was designed and decorated by Fiona, Michael, Kelly and Claire and had Fiona's and Michael's names and the baptism date and colorful stones.
We had a party afterwards at my house. It was a very special day for all of us and I know that Grandaddy was smiling.

It was a very special day thanks to Gramalie and everyone else there. I feel blessed to be the Godmother of these 2 beautiful children. Three months to the day that Grandaddy went to heaven and look what has happened already!

I'm sorry I couldn't be there for the big day. Fiona and Michael got two great godparents.

Irish Baptism Prayer for Fiona
May God grant you always
A sunbeam to warm you
A moonbeam to charm you
A sheltering angel so nothing can harm you
Laughter to cheer you
Faithful friends near you
And whenever you pray
Heaven to hear you.
Irish Baptism Prayer for Michael
Lord, surround this child with goodness,
lead him in Your light each day;
Let him walk the path You've chosen,
guide his steps along the way ...
Teach him to trust Your wisdom
and obey Your loving plan;
Keep him from all harm, protect him
as he grows to be a man.

From Carol, the Godmother:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Please bless Fiona and Michael being newly baptized and going out into the world. Please stay close to them on their journey. Place people in their lives who also love you so that they may continue to strengthen their faith. Help them to be examples to others of your love and help them bring others closer to you. Amen."
