Drug Life

Look at me
What do you see?
Nothing but someone who's ugly, awful
Inside and outside
When I look at myself I see a broken mirror is all of me
Getting into peer pressure
Trying to be cool
Bags are stained under my eyes
Stomach sores hurt
Redness around my wrists from handcuffs
My old friend and my family don't trust me.
Covered in bruises from head to toe
Throwing up in my private room, the bathroom
Sneaking out to go to parties
Gulping down bottles of pills to calm my thoughts
Being a hateful person
Nearly killing myself as I drink and drive
Skipping school to fight other gangs
My life is bad
Get some GOOD advice from me
Have a life that's good
Like how mine use to be.

CC Dad:

For the record: This was a poem that CC wrote for a class project. Unlike A Million Little Pieces, she is not representing these experiences as her own.

UT:

I thought it was awfully heavy for Claire. But it is a very good poem!

Gramalie:

Well, that's a relief! It's a well thought out poem, Claire. It is sad, but so are the people who allow drugs to take over their lives.
