So close...

I was close, but sadly, I will most likely not be going to all state. Usually you have to get a score of 14 or lower. For each section they give you a score, 1 point for either no errors and sometimes 1-2 errors. (depending on how much room there is to make errors) Then it goes up to 6 points in some parts, and 8 in others. I got 18 in my audition because I got 2 points on my chromatic scale (i made errors descending) and then I pretty much bombed my sight-reading. I got a 4 on my first one (mess up one note and you pretty much mess up the whole thing) a 1 on my second, and a 5 on my 3rd. Otherwise, everything else was ones!! That's good. I was 4th best in my chorus class. One boy got a 12, another girl got a 13.5, and another got a 17. The boy and girl with the lowest scores have tried out for things like this before, so Mrs. Pence was very proud of me. Other people got 25s and 21s, Which mrs. Pence said was also very good. She had to enter every score for all the middle schoolers in a computer, and she said that many schools with a more experienced choral program had kids making 40s! I think the highest score you can get is a 48 or something. Hopefully next year I will get the chance to try out again.

I'm VERY proud of you! You've been singing (officially) for two months and you came in 4th in your huge middle school! That's the way I read it. I think you also have a great chorus teacher. It doesn't matter what the subject, you should always appreciate a GREAT teacher! (Like Mr. G.) And I even like the way you are working with your little sister. The two of you (can) sound great together. You should practice and then sing songs for people's Christmas presents. (Hint: Learn Danny Boy for your Mom!)

I, too am VERY proud of you. I see you singing at all the family weddings!!! Wonder how you'll be bridesmaid and vocalist? Huuummm...
