iFrog’s Vote: Help Me Choose

I want to order a cover for my iPod nano from iFrogz.com, but I’m having a hard time deciding. You can build your own design. Here are 5 that I built and like. Which one do you think is the one for me? (please vote for two)

The Awesome Yamaha Clavinova CLP-150M Piano

My sister and I have enjoyed using this piano very much. It is great for practicing, because you can record your piece and listen to it back so that you can pick out mistakes. The recording feature is also great for parties so that we can show people our different pieces. They have about 10 different piano noises, as well as probably over 100 other noise options. Some of them are just fun, like bubbly noises. Then again, there are real instruments like the violin and trumpet. It is great to have those sound options as well when you would like to make up songs. You can turn the volume up and down so when people in the house want to hear us we can blast it! Or, if people are still asleep, we can turn it down just to practice. There is a headphones plug too. I have enjoyed this piano very much, plus it came with a large book of 50 songs that I have enjoyed playing. This is about as close as you can get to a real piano when it comes to electric pianos. I think I like it BETTER than a real one.

So close…

I was close, but sadly, I will most likely not be going to all state. Usually you have to get a score of 14 or lower. For each section they give you a score, 1 point for either no errors and sometimes 1-2 errors. (depending on how much room there is to make errors) Then it goes up to 6 points in some parts, and 8 in others. I got 18 in my audition because I got 2 points on my chromatic scale (i made errors descending) and then I pretty much bombed my sight-reading. I got a 4 on my first one (mess up one note and you pretty much mess up the whole thing) a 1 on my second, and a 5 on my 3rd. Otherwise, everything else was ones!! That’s good. I was 4th best in my chorus class. One boy got a 12, another girl got a 13.5, and another got a 17. The boy and girl with the lowest scores have tried out for things like this before, so Mrs. Pence was very proud of me. Other people got 25s and 21s, Which mrs. Pence said was also very good. She had to enter every score for all the middle schoolers in a computer, and she said that many schools with a more experienced choral program had kids making 40s! I think the highest score you can get is a 48 or something. Hopefully next year I will get the chance to try out again.

All-State

Tomorrow is my All-State audition. I am very nervous. My audition will be at 10:30 tomorrow, and I am auditioning as an alto. I am resting my voice right now. We will have a long drive tomorrow, and I have to be there 30 minutes early. Wish me luck!!

Chorus – Update

Today I found out some most excellent news! I made it for Honors Chorus!! I also will be able to try out for Allstate. I have found out more info on allstate too. You go through 2 rounds of auditions. In the 1st audition (it’s the hardest) you must sing a major, minor, and chromatic scale. Read 3 simple lines of music (according to Mrs. Pence, but I don’t know, sight reading may be my weakness). Then we do Tonal Memory (they play 5 notes, you sing them back), and a piece we memorize. The next round is a “breeze” (quoting Mrs. Pence). If you make it through both rounds, you will go to Savannah for 4 days and nights, and practice with really good conductors and the best singers in Georgia. I don’t know if I’ll even get through the first round, but I think I’m gonna try, just to say I did it. I don’t know much about honors chorus. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

HONORS CHORUS

I am really excited about doing chorus this year. We have it for the first time. Today we were doing voice testing for the girls. It was to see if we were sopranos or altos. Well, not I only was I able to sing the lowest in my group I went to sing with, I was of the highest with one of the other girls. We can sing the highest in our class. trust me, it’s not pretty, but it is in tune at least. She said we can work with that later. Anyways, the other girl and I (who said she had no singing talent at all, but I think she was saying that in case she sounded bad to other people) in the group “were on pitch” the entire, and we might get to be in honors chorus, which is like, a county (state?) wide chorus. We were not the only ones in the class, just the only ones in our group of… 5, but some groups didn’t even have one person to do Honors. I have to go in early on tuesdays and thursdays to work with her, and later on I would like to try out for Allstate, which is much more competitive. You have to audition by yourself in front of judges, and it is international i think. I don’t quite remember, but i am really, really, really excited.

Jackie Chan – the Singer

Have you ever heard Jackie Chan sing? On the Mulan Special Edition, I was checking out the bonus features and Jackie Chan was singing a song in Chinese. It was a song from the movie, and I just thought it was funny to hear him sing. He sounded like one of the bad contestants from American Idol. I wish there was some way you could hear it. He had his own music video too with shots of him either standing there, or doing some pretty lame karate moves. That is pretty much it…

Orchestra Not Dorkestra

Orchestra is sometimes called the Dorkestra. There don’t have a pun for band so people sometimes just say that music is dorky. This is untrue though and I can prove it. Most of the people at are considered “Dorks” do not do music. Perhaps to fit in?? The most popular people in the school (We have about 20) are all included in some music type thing from school. I am in orchestra, although I may not be the most popular person in school I am still well known, BELIEVE ME! Those who are considered “popular” that are about two notches down do not do orchestra or band. They say they are way to cool. They are the popular, not well known around the school people. So music is not so uncool!
