Heartbreak Hotel

This weekend we went to visit Danny at Spring Hill for family weekend. We all got to see his new dorm and where his classes were. So, all around everything was pretty satisfactory… except for the hotel we stayed in: Quality Inn& Suites. there were so many things wrong with that hotel; we even made a list of them.

1. Advertised the room having a King Sized bed, wound up having just a double

2. Huge ceiling leak in the breakfast area

3. The mirror was dirty and chipped

4. The picture on the TV turned from bright green to red

5. In the lobby entrance there was this nice lining of light bulbs going all down the wall, it looked pretty neat… except only 4 out of about 30 of those light bulbs actually worked (during our stay, none of them were even replaced)

6. Not enough sheets in the room

7. Not enough towels

8. Unsanitary breakfast area (see some examples below list)

9. Fridge in the room coming out of its place

10. Almost everyone there was [slow moving. — Editor]

11. Chairs in breakfast area had a lot of stains on them

12. Microwave was dirty and rusty

13. “King Sized Bed” had only one wimpy pillow

14. Unfriendly Staff

15. Referring to number 10, almost everyone there got hot real easily and were slow

16. Smelled funny

17. In our room, one of the outlets was broken

18. Light bulb burnt out in bathroom (I don’t remember that one)

[This was a heat lamp, but the switch on the wall was broken. — Editor]

19. Messed up shower “massager” knob attachment

20. TV did not remember channel when you turned it off

21. Disabled our room keys too early

22. No newspapers

I don’t know if I forgot to write anything, so, my parents can help with that. Also, later on in our stay, some very rude people were staying who were shouting and laughing in the hallway at a very late hour. I am pretty sure these were the same people who had earlier polluted the pool (water and noise pollution).

Next…

Examples of an unsanitary breakfast area:

~ Several times I saw a lady who worked at the hotel squish down the trash in the trash can with bare hands and without washing her hands.

~ Then I saw the same lady loading biscuits to be eaten by the guests on a tray and some muffins… with bare hands

~ Nobody wore gloves or hair nets

Need I say more?? Disgusting!

Now, I don’t think I would have been bothered so much if they were charging us a real cheap price, but they were actually charging an expensive price! I wouldn’t be surprised if this turned out to be a one-star hotel.

Although it was pretty bad, we did manage to find a few positive things about this hotel, so here’s the positive list:

1. There was a lot of space in the room for a hotel room

2. A lot of storage space (even if we didn’t use it)

All in all, I think we actually had a good time of putting down the hotel, and mom took advantage of the free coffee in our room by taking all the packs with us when we left.

Halloweenie!

I went trick-or-treating this year with Shivani and Christine came over. I got some really good stuff! overall I had 238 pieces I believe. Claire and I had a little trading post, I was able to pull a few tricky tricks on her (TRICK-or-treat, right?) and get some good stuff. Like giving her green apple flavored candy and getting blow-pops out of it. I am not really sure what I was supposed to me. “You look great Kelly,” Christine said. I am a gorgeous model!! Well… I guess I WAS, you get my point. Well, by the end of the night, I had come up with an official name for my whole “ensemble”. I was a Zombie Pirate Clown. Unfortunately, nobody asked me what I was supposed to be. I was DYING to say a piece of clay. Ah well. claire and I also have a little candy collage.

I’m making a face in the background… what else is new?

I wound up having EXACTLY 4 more pieces than Claire. Which is actually pretty funny, because she gave me 3 pieces of candy before we counted. Haha! I think that is Ironic. She said that she didn’t like those candies.

New Candy:

*A whistle?? not quite candy, but a lady was handing them out this year so…

*Bubblicious pops– Lolly pop, gum, and juice in the middle.

*Imitation Blow Pops– Double Bubble, and Hubba Bubba. Both worse than the real thing.

*Tropical Flavored Tootsie Roll Pops

*Hubba Bubba gum sticks, with a sticker!!

*Jolly rancher fruit chews, had the lollipop fruit chews, but not the plain fruit chews.

It was strange this year, I didn’t get the normal 80 tootsie rolls, i only had about 8 this year. I didn’t get any popcorn bags this year either… or any of those really gross candies I always get. Oh, and it’s a record, 1 Almond Joy in my entire candy bag!

Rainy Easter

Easter was pretty different this year. For one thing, we went shopping for Easter outfits the day before Easter. Then, Danny wasn’t there in the morning to look for his basket. Which actually isn’t that different because he wakes up so late, but he didn’t get a basket at all. Which was too bad because his is the hardest to find, and we like to watch him look for it. Well, nicole and Danny arrived in time to go to church. We got there REALLY early and got to see a baby be baptized at mass. I have never seen a baptism before, so that was a treat i guess. when we drove to Grammalie and Grandaddy’s house it was pouring down, so we were wondering about what we would do about the easter egg hunt. This year we did not make a bunny cake but an adorable little easter basket cake. We did miss the Ettenshins this year at the Easter egg hunt. We wound up having it inside and on the screened in porch. Well, one thing was definitely the same this year. You guys can probably guess who got the silver dollar. Better not tell David if he doesn’t already know. Next event was dinner. It was kinda funny to me that we had a St. Patty’s dinner on easter. Not that I did not enjoy it, the food was delicious. We had dessert and the evening went on with the adults talking and Claire and I entertaining ourselves with Michael and Fiona. Then we all left and that concluded the our rainy Easter.

Up in the Mountain, Down in the Creek

Over the long weekend we went up the mountains. I guess it was in North Georgia. We actually walked the beginning of the Appalachian Trail. Which was hardly anything. There were too many complaints to go any farther *cough* Danny *cough*. We stayed in this nice cabin in a peaceful mountain resort place is I guess what you call it. We got to bring the dogs. Claire and I spent a lot of time with the horses. We went to this church that really like visitors.

What I loved, besides God and all living things, was playing in the creek. That was my favorite thing. The water was icy cold and you could feel your bones freeze. After a minute or two, you got used to it. What we did in that creek was something that I feel proud of. We built a dam (or as Claire sats, a D-A-M) out of the rock in the creek. It made about half a foot difference in the deepness of the water. You could tell it made one whole side a lot deeper. That trip was so much fun. And I owe it all to mom, who paid for the trip. I love you mom, and thank you so much. Also, I hope you feel better.

Dolphins in Anna Maria

One of things I am really going to remember about Anna Maria 2004 is seeing the dolphins. I got to see dolphins three times! The time I thought was the coolest was when we saw a mother and its baby. They were flapping their tails (My mom said it was like school, the baby was being taught). I am not really sure how many baby dolphins there were. The mother did it once and the baby did it about 7 times. We swam out to them, but they were gone by the time we got out there. Dolphins are made for speed. The time we got the closest to them we were on that really nice pontoon boat- thanks to Grammalie 🙂 – that we drove around to many places. We drove right next to a booey with a dolphin swimming around it. We think it was trying to get something out of it. I wish I had on my glasses!! I could still see it pretty clear though. That was one of my favorite parts of Anna Maria. I heard there were Manatees out. Too bad we didn’t get to see those!! Maybe next time…

Now playing: Octopus’s Garden from “Abbey Road” by The Beatles

Fast Eddies

We went to Pensacola for Danny’s baseball tournament. The whole time we had pretty fun. The thing that I liked the most was going to Fast Eddies. It was a small place. The mini golf court was literally mini. We did not do it, but I know it wouldn’t have been that fun. Inside you could get food and there was a lot of arcade games squeezed inside. All we did though was ride the Go-Carts. Of course that was the main attraction. Also the most fun thing to do. Most of the team had left. One of Danny’s fellow pitchers accompanied us (Ryan Bode). We went there, because we were expecting the Brunelle’s to come (a baseball team family). They wound up not being there since the baseball player in their family, Parker, was too tired. All the kids got three rides each. Dad got 2 Mom got 1. It was so fun. One of the best things I ever had done. at first I was kinda afraid of crashing. But when we got started I found it was so easy. We could only go on 2 of the tracks. One of them you needed a license and a special expensive ticket. The other one was for toddlers. The two we went on was a track shaped like an 8 and the other one was a special speed one. I liked the 8 one the best. I only crashed once out of all 3 rides. On the third ride I was the fastest and lapped half the people. I love driving go-carts now. I could probably spend all my money in one day go-cart riding!! After leaving there I had the need for speed!! If anyone wanted to do this, I would strongly suggest that you do it. Of course for your birthday or something!!
